Lansford seeks tax collector applicants
Lansford Borough Council will be seeking letters of interest or resumes for the position of tax collector.
The borough’s tax collector, Terrance P. McCall, died June 2. He had served in the role since 2015.
Council offered a moment of silence for McCall at the start of its special meeting on June 4, and on Wednesday, members began the process to fill his position.
Council plans to advertise for the position for two weeks, interview on the third week and hold a special meeting to appoint.
Applicants must be a resident of Lansford for one year, be Act 48 certified and bonded before the start of duties.
Council President Bruce Markovich asked what happens if council doesn’t get any applicants.
Solicitor Bob Yurchak said then they touch base with tax collectors in the surrounding towns and work out an agreement to have the taxes collected.
