Carbon courthouse project on schedule

Carbon County commissioners on Thursday last week reported the multimillion courthouse renovation project remains on schedule.

The commissioners approved four change orders to the contract with G.R. Noto Electrical Construction Inc. of Clarks Summit with no change in price. The contract remains at $1.07 million.

Commissioners Chair Michael Sofranko thanked the courthouse staff, administration and everyone involved in the project, which has been challenging with moving things around, change orders and decisions that had to be made.

“We’ve been up and down the hills the last couple of months,” he said. “And we’ve been very fortunate so far to stay on schedule.”

The renovation of the historic courthouse began in November and is expected to be completed in 2025.
