Franklin Township Supervisors

Franklin Township supervisors took the following action on Tuesday:

• Announced that the township will receive $98,514 in Community Development Block Grant funds this year for the Red Hill Road project. Of that, $80,782 is for the project, and the other $17,732 is for administration.

• Awarded a contract for seal coating on various roads to Shiffert Bituminous for $76,484, and to Lehigh Asphalt for road materials.

• Announced garbage collection pickup for Monday, May 27 pickup has been changed to Tuesday, May 28.

• Increased the hourly rate of the elected auditors from $10 to $18 an hour. The township is in need of an auditor.

• Approved a request from Palmerton Borough for the assistance of the Franklin Township fire police for the Palmerton Memorial Day Parade.

• Approved the request from the Lehighton Area School District for the assistance of the Franklin Township fire police to assist with traffic control for the Lehighton Area School District Class of 2024 Commencement Program scheduled for June 11. In the event of inclement weather, graduation will be held on June 12 or June 13.
