Jim Thorpe’s 137th Birthday will be celebrated Saturday, honoring one of the greatest athletes of the 20th Century.

At 10:30 a.m., there will be a Native American Smudge Ceremony at the Memorial Monument, followed by an Olympian Torch Run by local students in honor of his Olympic achievements.

From noon to 4 p.m., the Jim Thorpe Area High School Stadium will host an Olympic Medal Ceremony, followed by a Native American Festival.
