Knitting Club

The Knitting Club will meet from 6-8 p.m. Monday at the Palmerton Area Library. The club is free and open to anyone interested in knitting or crocheting of all skill levels.

Read Across America

Come to the Palmerton Area Library for Read Across America on Monday from 6-7 p.m. and Celebrate Read Across America. Meet in the Children’s Room for multicultural stories and songs. Open to preschool through second grade.

Block Party

Block Party is a Pennsylvania State Library initiative encouraging the use of block play for learning and imagination on Tuesday from 10:30-11:30 a.m. for ages 3 to 6 at the Palmerton Area Library.

Music Time

Music Time at the Palmerton Area Library is music and movement for children ages birth through 5 and parents/caregivers. It is held Wednesdays, March 4 to March 25, at 10:15 a.m. Space is limited. Call Rachel at the library at 610-826-3424.

Blue Mountain Fiber Guild

The Blue Mountain Fiber Guild will meet at the Palmerton Area Library March 3 at 7 p.m. This group explores all things related to Fiber Arts (spinning, weaving, etc.).

Concourse Club

The Palmerton Concourse Club will meet at 7 p.m. March 5 at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 2915 Fireline Road, Palmerton. The program for the evening “A Dive into Oceanography” will be presented by Ruth Curry, Scientist from the Bermuda Institute of Oceanography. This is an open meeting. Invite your friends.

Living Hope Lighthouse Church

Following the 10 a.m. Worship service at Living Hope Lighthouse Church, 705 N. Third St., Palmerton on Sunday will be a fellowship luncheon at 11:15 a.m. Vote for your favorite dessert in a bake off.

Marker Mug Making

Teens ages 12-18 are invited to the Palmerton Area Library on March 11 from 3:30-4:30 p.m. Come and design and decorate your own mug using oil-based paint markers. You must sign up for this event. Call 610-826-3424. Hosted by the Library Teens.

Breakfast

Breakfast will be served from 8 a.m. to noon on March 1 at the Parryville Volunteer Fire Company, 359 Main St., Parryville. Platter choices include pancakes, French toast, SOS, eggs, omelets, or popular Fire House Mess. Choice of meats are bacon, ham, sausage, or scrapple. Includes home fries, juice and coffee. Large and small platters are available. Take out call 610-852-2350.

Lenten Service

Five area churches join together each year for Wednesday evening Lenten Services. St. Matthew’s United Church of Christ, Jerusalem United Church of Christ, Jerusalem Evangelical Lutheran Church, Salem-St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, and Salem United Church of Christ Gilbert will hold the first joint service on Wednesday at St. Matthew’s United Church of Christ, Kunkletown. The Preacher will be Rev. Deb Scheffey. This year’s theme is “Signs of Lent,” with the first week’s being “Stop.”

A simple soup supper will be held from 6-6:45 p.m. Worship service begins at 7 p.m. Choir rehearsal will be at 6:30 p.m. Choir members from all churches are invited to attend rehearsal and sing each week.

Faith Alive

Faith Alive Church, 678 Pine St. holds Sunday contemporary worship at 8:30 a.m. and traditional worship at 10:45 a.m. with Pastor Rob Timlin.

Sunday school is at 9:45 a.m. with classes for all ages.

Youth Group will meet March 1, 8 and 29 at 6 p.m. They will join Blue Mountain Church on March 15 at 6:30 p.m. for Neon Night and participate in World Vision 30 hour famine on March 20 and 21.

Women’s Stretch Class: Wednesdays at 10:30 a.m.

Men’s Breakfast and Devotions: March 14 at 9 a.m.

Homebound Ministry: Visiting shut-ins March 4 and 18.

Prayer Shawl Ministry: March 5 and 19 at 2 p.m.

Human/Pet Grief Support: March 4 at 1 p.m.

Ladies Faithful Believers: March 9 at 9 a.m.

Adult Bible Study: March 12 and 26 at 2 p.m.

New for Lent: Congregation wide six weeks Bible Study with small groups. Rick Warren’s, “Time to Dream” starting Sunday 9:45 a.m., Tuesday 6 p.m. and Wednesday 11:30 a.m. and 7 p.m. All are encouraged to join a group.

Clothing drive: Used adult clothing and shoes being collected for the Gathering Place Mission in Weissport.

Fellowship fun night, soup social: March 28, 6 p.m. Bring your favorite soup to share. All welcome but please sign up.
