White Haven man charged with fleeing police
A White Haven man has been charged with fleeing police after a high-speed chase in Kidder Township.
According to the affidavit of probable cause filed by officer Mason Moran of the Kidder Township Police Department in the case against Kevin Koble:
At 9:58 p.m. Jan. 31, Moran was conducting normal patrol duties in the area of Route 534 and the ONVO gas station when he observed a white Honda Odyssey parked at the pumps but not pumping gas.
Moran ran the vehicle’s registration and discovered that the registration plate did not come back to the vehicle that it was affixed to, so he left the parking lot and continued to patrol nearby.
While monitoring traffic in the area, Moran noticed the vehicle pull out on to the roadway and began traveling on 534 eastbound, at which time he pulled out behind it and activated his emergency lights and siren to stop the vehicle.
The driver, later identified as Koble, 41, sped up, not pulling over for the officer’s signals.
Koble pulled onto Spring Hill Road in White Haven and came to a stop near postal code 85, at which time he exited the vehicle and ran into the woods. A short foot pursuit ensued and resulted in Koble’s arrest.
The vehicle was determined to have no financial responsibility, nor an ignition interlock as per required by Koble’s license, which was also expired.
Koble faces charges of fleeing or attempting to elude police officer, evading arrest or detention on foot, and fraudulent use or removal of registration plate, or duty of driver on approach of emergency vehicle, drivers required to be licensed, required financial responsibility.
Koble is currently incarcerated in the Carbon County Correctional Facility in lieu of $2,000 monetary bail.
Koble is scheduled to have his preliminary hearing Wednesday before District Judge Joseph D. Homanko of Weatherly.
