A Jim Thorpe area food pantry is changing location due to renovations happening at its currently location.

On Thursday, Carbon County Commissioner Rocky Ahner announced that the Jim Thorpe Food Pantry, operated by Ebenezer E.C. out of Memorial Hall, East 10th St., will be relocating after Saturday’s distribution.

He said the reason for the relocation is due to Jim Thorpe renovating Memorial Hall.

“Jim Thorpe is not kicking us out,” he said. “They are renovating.”

A new location has been secured for the time being, with the pantry still being able to use the freezers at Memorial Hall, however, Ahner said he would not announce the new location until after the distribution occurs as to not confuse residents who utilize the pantry.

Whether the move is temporary or permanent has not been announced.
