State police at the Bethlehem barracks are investigating a burglary that was reported to them on Jan. 7 at 8:20 p.m. in North Whitehall Township.
Police said it is believed the burglary is connected to others that have been reported across multiple jurisdictions in the area.
The burglary took place at a property on Balliet Street, where the victim is a 53-year-old Coplay man. Police said stolen property is estimated to be in excess of $65,000.
Police said upon arrival at the scene, they discovered the private residence had been ransacked inside.
They said at least two people waited for the victim to leave the premises before forcing their way into the home by prying open a side window with a screwdriver.
Police said one person burglarized the residence while the second one waited in the driveway of the property in an escape vehicle, believed to be a 2004 Subaru Baja.
Police said after burglarizing the home, the intruder left through a side door and they fled the scene in the dark-colored SUV, going southbound along Mauch Chunk Road.
The stolen property included multiple firearms and numerous wristwatches, police said.
