CCTI sets 2024-25 student limit for sending districts

The Carbon Career & Technical Institute will accept student applications for the 2024-25 school year until March 1.

The Joint Operating Committee passed a motion to set the number of students who meet the 2024-2025 admissions requirements to the Freshman Exploratory Program at 10 applicants per sending school district.

CCTI will initially only accept the 10 applications from each district and will request additional applications as needed.

Interested students should speak to the school district counselors and special education case managers about applying to CCTI. Course handbooks were distributed to all middle schools for all interested eighth graders.

The five sending school districts for CCTI are Lehighton, Jim Thorpe, Palmerton, Weatherly and Panther Valley.

Evaluations

On Jan. 9-11, evaluators from the Pennsylvania Department of Education visited CCTI to complete the annual Chapter 339 Bureau of Career & Technical Education Approved Program Evaluation. Evaluations were done on all 14 career and technical programs offered by CCTI.

“The committee was very impressed with our school, the quality of our CTE instructors, the planning, the initiatives, and the overall instruction,” Michelle Allen, CCTI principal, told the Joint Operating Committee. “There were no corrective actions needed after their review, and they had numerous commendations for our students and our CTE programs and instructors.”

The Carbon Career & Technical Institute also announced:
