Lansford Borough Office will remain closed for the remainder of the week, but could reopen to the public on a limited basis next week, its borough council president said Thursday.
On Wednesday, Lansford Borough Council hired a part-time secretary, Paula Fisher of Lake Hauto, who should be in place shortly, said Council President Bruce Markovich.
The borough continues to look to fill the position of borough secretary, and he said council hopes to hire another person by the end of the month.
Markovich said that bills, payroll and other financial matters are being handled by Lacey Gonzalez.
The office has been closed since last week, when council opted not to reappoint Wendy Butrie as the borough secretary/treasurer at its reorganization meeting. The borough already had a vacancy for assistant borough secretary.
Fisher will now fill the position of assistant borough secretary on a part-time basis.
Also, on Wednesday night, borough council hired Brian Kelly and Associates to conduct the required audit upon the vacancy of the positions of the borough treasurer and assistant borough treasurer, and to do borough’s yearly audit.
