The Eldred Township supervisors passed the budget Wednesday night with no tax increases.
The tax rate will remain at 2.2 mills. This consists of 1.7 mills for the general fund, 0.25 mills for the capital equipment fund, and 0.25 mills for fire protection purposes.
According to the budget, the total revenue for the township is $1.4 million without adding in funds from the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021. Broken down, that means there is $1.1 million in the General Fund; $153,400 in the Liquid Fuels Fund; $51,400 in the Fire Protection Tax Fund; and $76,400 in the Capital Equipment Fund.
With money from ARPA added to the revenue, the township has $2.3 million total. This boosts the General Fund to $1.7 million; Liquid Fuels to $245,000; Fire Protection to $147,930; and Capital Reserve to $197,900.
Total expenditures are expected to be $1.6 million.
In other business, the supervisors approved becoming a member of the PA One Call system. Ann Velopolcek, the township secretary, explained that the township will save money by becoming a member.
“It’s the PA One Call System, so if you are going to be digging you call them and they verify whether or not there is any underground utilities that would be there. They come out and mark it. There’s a fee for that. They charge us 72 cents for each phone call, which is less than what we pay now because as being part of the group they have discounted prices,” she said.
