Work is almost complete in diverting runoff waters from Route 309 to the Little Schuylkill River at the southern end of Tamaqua.

Workers from Lehigh Asphalt Company of Tamaqua have installed four precast concrete storm inlets along the east berm of the roadway, diverting a small stream that began last month. The water has been flowing from the western end of Pisgah Mountain onto the highway at the rate of, what one engineer estimated to be, 4,000 gallons per minute.
