A Schnecksville man is in jail after leading police on a high-speed chase, weaving in and out of the lane on the Mansion House Hill Saturday night.
The original call began in Summit Hill, shortly before 9 p.m., when police reported a vehicle trespassing on property at East White Bear Drive. The car, a black sedan with a loud exhaust, fled the area at a high rate of speed.A short time later a resident reported seeing the car near the old jail on Broadway in Jim Thorpe. While traveling south on Route 209 near Jim Thorpe, a Mahoning Township officer observed a vehicle matching the description going north on Route 209 up the Mansion House Hill.A Jim Thorpe officer was able to get behind the vehicle with his emergency lights and siren activated. The driver refused to stop and passed numerous vehicles in the S-curves at the top of the hill where there is limited visibility and passing is prohibited.Of the numerous vehicles passed, four motorists remained on scene and were identified.Three were passed on the right, and one was passed on the left across the double yellow line.As the car, a 1995 Acura driven by Cody Kale of Schnecksville, attempted to pass a final vehicle on the right, it became partially stuck.Police stopped the car and Kale was arrested.Police said his license was under a DUI suspension, and he admitted the use of marijuana.Kale, charged with numerous offenses, was placed in Carbon County Correctional Facility in lieu of $75,000 bail.
