LAX Fest a winner for Pleasant Valley lacrosse

LAX Fest has been declared a success. Several hundred filled the Pocono Dome in Sciota Sunday in support of the Pleasant Valley Youth Association's Lacrosse teams.

"We had a fantastic time. It was really an awesome way to kick off our 2014 season for the players and the families of PVYA Lacrosse. We had nearly 100 percent participation of our players with approximately 145 boys and girls in attendance. With siblings and family, close to 300 people overall attended," said Karen Clark, fundraising chairwoman for PVYA Girls' Lacrosse.Blue versus White teams were divided into coed players with the ultimate winners of the day taking home "The Grizzly," a huge trophy.Children participated in relay events, earning points for their overall team color. There was plenty of food and activities such as face painting, rainbow looming, balloon art and animals, and a photo booth on hand."Our families donated raffle baskets to raffle off as our fundraiser. We also had our DJ accept song requests for a $1 donation, which was donated to the Headstrong Foundation in their efforts in the fight against childhood cancer," Clark said."Our hope is to run this event every year moving forward and build on the excitement from year to year," Clark said.If anyone is interested in participating in the lacrosse program, winter sessions will be registering in September and spring sessions in January.
