Carbon County's election board will have three temporary board members in 2015.

According to an amended court order from President Judge Roger N. Nanovic, filed in the Court of Common Pleas in Carbon County on Jan. 14, Lee Becker and Wallace Putowski, both of Lehighton, and Frank Jacobs of Nesquehoning have been appointed to serve as the Carbon County Election Board members for the 2015 primary and general municipal elections. They replace Commissioners Thomas J. Gerhard, Wayne Nothstein and William O'Gurek, who are all up for re-election this year.The reason for the appointment is because the commissioners cannot serve on the board when they are up for re-election. That means that the county salary board, in February, will set the salaries of the three positions.The Carbon County Election Board's responsibilities include overseeing that the primary and general elections are conducted properly and work with Election Director Lisa Dart on election matters that arise during the year.
