Bridge project worries Penn Forest residents

A Penn Forest Township neighborhood will be cut off from easily accessible emergency services after the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission said a nine-month bridge replacement project will start in March, according to one resident.

The residents of Hatchery Road recently received notice of the project, the resident said.

Audrey Fox and her husband Keith , who live on the road, and neighbors went before the township supervisors on Oct. 2 with Audrey Fox saying the neighborhood will be cut off from nearby fire and ambulance protection, and possibly the post office.

After discussing the issue, an idea was floated to contact state Rep. Doyle Heffley to call a meeting between the township, emergency services, the post office, the Jim Thorpe School District (4 buses a school day run on the road), and the turnpike to discuss how this will work for the Hatchery Road families. That meeting will be publicized for all interested to attend.
