Palmerton approves food truck on Friday, Saturday nights

As of tonight, a Lower Towamensing Township food truck may set up shop Friday and Saturday nights in downtown Palmerton while a haunted house is in operation.

That’s after borough council on a 5-0 vote Thursday agreed to allow Shoenberger’s Meat Market to sell food from 9 to 11 p.m. on those nights.

Councilman Andrew Hollywood noted that the food truck was working in collaboration with the Halls of Horror Haunted Attraction, and will be located east of the ticket booth.

Councilman Terry Costenbader wondered where Shoenberger’s would locate its food truck in relation to Halls of Horror, which is at 320 Delaware Ave.

“It’s a congested intersection,” Costenbader said.

Councilman William Gallagher agreed.

“We’d hate to step on the toes of local businesses,” Gallagher said.

However, police Chief Tim Kromer said the food truck wouldn’t be at the location during daytime hours.

Shoenberger’s Meat Market is located at 1810 Hahn’s Dairy Road in Lower Towamensing Township.
