State police car involved in crash responding to call

A Pennsylvania State Police patrol vehicle was involved in a motor vehicle crash on Aug. 30.

Police said at 2:53 p.m., a trooper from the Fogelsville was responding to a report of a school bus crash in Lower Macungie Township and had the patrol car’s lights and siren activated. Police said as the trooper was eastbound on Hamilton Boulevard in the center turn lane, an Acura TSX operated by a 23-year-old woman from Macungie, traveled directly into the path of travel of the patrol vehicle.

Police said the driver of the Acura was transported by personnel from the Macungie Ambulance Corps to the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township. The trooper sustained minor injuries, police said.

The crash is being investigated by the Fogelsville barracks personnel who were assisted on scene by the Troop M Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Specialist Unit.

Personnel from the Lower Macungie Township Fire Department, Wescosville Fire Department and Macungie EMS also assisted police at the scene.
