Ice-capped trees

A light coating of ice covers trees along Hemlock Drive in Mahoning Township Thursday morning. Some areas of Pennsylvania, mostly South of this area, were plagued by heavy ice during Wednesday's storm cause downed trees and wide-spread power outages. Governor Tom Corbett declared a disaster emergency which allows the state to tap into theiremergency state funds and to assist with costs related to the storm and its cleanup. Thismorning, utility companies reported more than 325,000 customers were still without power in Pennsylvania, along with about 50,000 in Maryland. Officials have said they hoped to have most of them back online by the end of the day, but in some cases it may take muchof the weekend.
