Man gets jail time for drug dealing

A former Carbon County resident was sentenced to a prison term on Monday for drug dealing, but won't serve any more time because of his efforts he made to address is addiction problem.

David Wagner, 24, of Winterport, Maine, and formerly of Lansford, was sentenced by Judge Joseph J. Matika to serve 6 to 12 months in prison on a charge of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance. He previously pleaded to the charge.Wagner was arrested on March 6, 2014, when agents of the Attorney General's office and the county drug task force executed a search warrant at 429 E. Ridge St., Lansford. Found in the home were 197 bags of heroin and other drug paraphernalia.Wagner moved to Maine in April 2014 and entered a inpatient rehabilitation program and spent a year in it. He also spent time in a halfway house. He also spent 50 days in jail.Matika agreed to sentence him to what amounts a time-served term with credit for the 50 days and also for 315 days in a rehab program.Matika said Wagner deserved the consideration for the outstanding work he did to address his drug addiction. Wagner said he would remain living in Maine.Wagner must also pay court costs of about $1,000 and supply a DNA sample.
