A Schuylkill County man faces several charges following after police stopped him and found loaded guns and a baby in the car.
Mahoning Township Police said that at 1:10 a.m. on Aug. 21, a 911 caller reported a 2012 Nissan traveling west on Route 443 almost hit several cars head on, and there was a baby in the car.Police saw the car slowing to a near stop in a 55 mph zone, and swerving off the roadway.Officers attempted to stop the vehicle, but it continued for more than a quarter mile before stopping. WWhen police approached the vehicle, an infant was found inside, and a handgun was observed next to the gear shifter.During the investigation, officers seized two loaded handguns a .380 and a 9 mm; a stun gun; marijuana; and over $1,600 in cash.The driver of the vehicle, Nicholas Munoz, 25 of Andreas, has been charged with three counts of driving under the influence of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor one-increased grading for child in car; carrying loaded weapons, a felony; persons not to possess, use, manufacture, control, sell or transfer firearms, a felony; firearms not to be carried without a license, a felony; endangering the welfare of childre; possession of a small amount of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, and reckless driving.A passenger in the vehicle, Chelsea Munoz, 23, of Andreas, has been charged with carrying loaded weapons, a felony.Nicholas, and Chelsea were arraigned by Magisterial District Judge Joseph Homanko on Oct. 16.Nicholas Munoz had his bail set at $50,000 straight, while Chelsea Munoz had her bail set at $10,000 straight.Both have been committed to the Carbon County Prison.A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Nov. 4.
