11-year-old girl charged in PV Intermediate School bomb threat

An 11-year-old girl has been found to be the responsible party for a bomb threat that sent Panther Valley Intermediate School students home early last Thursday.

Summit Hill Police Chief Joseph Fittos said Monday afternoon that the investigation revealed that the youth, whose name has not been released because of her age, was the person who scribbled a threat in the girls bathroom at approximately 8:30 a.m.State and local police, as well as the Carbon County Emergency Management Agency were dispatched to the school and five bomb sniffing dogs being trained in Hershey responded to complete a sweep of the school.The girl responsible faces felony terroristic threats, as well as filing false reports and institutional vandalism, both misdemeanors.Fittos said that the girl will also be responsible for the cost incurred of the state police response, local police response and EMA.
