The Carbon County Prison board voted Wednesday to accept a quote from NECO Systems Inc. of Malvern to replace a float assembly in the prison's water system as a result of problems with the water pump shutting off randomly. Without the pump, the prison is left without water.

The total cost to replace the float assembly and sensors in the tank will cost $2,197.Additional work may be needed on the two float relays at a cost of $325 for each relay.The county has been looking at the problem for a few months after the pump shut down numerous times for unknown reasons, as well as unexplained amperage spikes.At first officials believed that it was related to water getting into the conduits, but electricians said that was not the issue.- Amy Miller
