HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) - Democratic Gov. Tom Wolf isn't saying yet how he'll handle legislation heading to his desk that Republican lawmakers say is designed to solve issues left over from a protracted budget fight.
The Republican-penned bill passed both the House and Senate on Wednesday. It would adopt a formula to distribute $200 million in additional public school aid and authorize up to $2.5 billion in borrowing for the state share of school construction projects. The borrowing is projected to result in finance costs of approximately $1.5 billion over 20 years.Wolf and Republican lawmakers have clashed over whether he has the authority to distribute new school aid and how to distribute it among school districts.
