A highly distinguished honor is up for grabs in Lehighton in conjunction with the borough's upcoming Sesquicentennial Celebration.

Nominations are being accepted through June 10 for a resident of the borough to be named as Citizen of the Century.Whoever is chosen will be named during the borough's 150th anniversary celebration.Nominees may be living or deceased and must have lived in the borough at one time between 1866-2016.Three living and three deceased finalists will be chosen from the nominees.The celebration will take place from June 25 through July 2.On June 25, everyone can vote and be a part of the naming of the Citizen of the Century.Whoever is chosen will be featured in the sesquicentennial parade, receive a plaque, have a plaque in their honor placed in the borough's municipal building, and have their recognition placed in the time capsule.Nominations may be sent to Lehighton 150 Celebration Committee, Attn: Citizen of the Century, 1 Constitution Ave., Lehighton, Pa, 18235, or to
