West Penn Police and the state police bomb squad are checking out a grenade found in a home in the township.

Police were called to a home along Quarry road Tuesday evening by a woman who discovered the device while cleaning out her basement.The piece was placed on the ground away from the home near the intersection of Mountain and Quarry roads.A member of the state police bomb squad from Wilkes-Barre examined the device and removed it from the scene.It will be Xrayed to determine if it is a live grenade.
