July 11, 1964

State Sen. John T. Van Sant of Allentown reminded a group of area residents of the economic significance of the Lake Hauto development as he cut a ribbon opening the new west entrance road. There were about 125 in attendance.Sharing the ribbon-cutting and also speaking was Curtis W. Kemmerer, manager of Lake Hauto. On hand for the event was John Adams, president of the Blue Ridge Real Estate Company; Schuylkill County officials; supervisors and planning board members from Rush Township; and Nesquehoning Mayor James Fauzio.Kemmerer said the new entrance road was deliberately laid out in such a way as to provide "an attractive, scenic approach to the lake."
