State trooper Mark W. Knock, along with trooper Edward Lizewski, interviewed Jane E. Schreiner at the Frackville barracks about two hours after she shot her husband. Assistant District Attorney Jennifer N. Lehman played a recording of that interview in court Wednesday.

It included Schreiner repeating, "Oh my God, oh my God" at the beginning of the interview.In the recording, she described the day as starting typically. Her husband worked night shift, and it was her day off from her job packing items for a craft company.She got bills together to pay, and he tilled her garden.But later, he began yelling about her family, using a vulgar word, loud enough for neighbors to hear."You know what, Ken? I can't handle this. I'm going into my room," she tells the troopers she said.But instead, she went outside onto the porch and sat.Kenneth Schreiner continued to yell."Ken, shut up. I'm going to shoot you. I'm going to slice your throat," she told him. "Don't go to sleep tonight."He laughed when she told him she was going to get the gun.She retrieved the gun from her nightstand."I heard a bang … I didn't really …" she said, her voice trailing off."Why didn't I just stay in my room like I did every other time?" she said.Schreiner told the troopers she could shoot the gun, but didn't know what kind it was or how to clean it."It happened so fast. I don't know what I'm going to do. Why didn't I just stay in my room?" she repeated."He was a good man. He worked hard. But he hated my family," she told the troopers. "I just wanted him to stop screaming."I was just so mad. I just wanted him to shut up," she said."I really didn't think I was going to shoot a bullet at Ken," she said. "I just wanted to scare him."Schreiner told the troopers that "when he fell over, I thought he was just clowning around."I wanted to scare him. I wanted him to stop. I didn't plan this," she said.She said she didn't aim the gun at him."I don't remember. I was just so angry, I can't remember," she said.
