Alternative energy program planned

The Carbon County Environmental Education Center will host a program on growing and using local grasses as biofuel on Saturday.The two-hour workshop will be offered twice that day, at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m.

Will Brandau of Woodcrest Farm has been successfully growing his own fuel for years and will share and demonstrate what he's learned. His program begins with an indoor discussion followed by an outdoor pellet-making demonstration.The program is funded through the USDA's Rural Energy for America Project and is free.For more information or to register, call 570-379-2971. CCEEC is located at the west end of Mauch Chunk Lake Park, just outside of Jim Thorpe along the Lentz Trail Highway. Program will be held rain or shine.
