Glitch in Tamaqua water bills

The Borough of Tamaqua has contracted with a new provider to supply utility bills to its water, sewer and trash customers due to problems encountered with the last type of bills, which were postcards. The new bills are letter-sized, making it less likely they will get lost in the mail.

November’s water bills are the first from the new provider and there’s a glitch. Even though the due date for the bills is Nov. 21, all of the bills are stamped as PAST DUE NOTICES.Water department officials want to assure residents and customers the bills are not really past due and they should just disregard that part of the bill.Also, for those who want to pay their bills online, they will need a customer I.D. number, which was supposed to be, but wasn’t, printed on the bills.
