PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Authorities say a woman died and a man was injured after their car struck a deer and then a utility pole in northwest Philadelphia.
Police said the car was heading south on Hagys Mill Road in the Roxborough section of the city when it hit the deer shortly after 12:30 a.m. Sunday.The car then slammed into a utility pole, which fell onto the vehicle, cutting it in half.A 22-year-old woman ejected from the vehicle was taken to Einstein Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead shortly afterward. Her name wasn't released pending notification of her family.The 27-year-old male driver was also taken to the hospital with injuries that weren't considered life-threatening.
