Claire Kubik said one of the earliest projects of the Naturalist Club, a youth group, at Lehigh Gap Nature Center was trapping bees for the Department of Agriculture.
Traps consists of colored bowls - blue, yellow or white - of soapy water. The bees drown and are cleaned. The bees were given to Dr. Anita Collins for an initial identification and then passed on to a second person.Collins said Kubik had collected 100 bees and they were of six species. After ID confirmation they are added to a national database, said Kubik.
