Events are planned for the two state parks in Schuylkill County - Tuscarora and Locust Lake in Barnesville.

OnJune 3, a hike at the Roaring Creek Watershed will be led by a naturalist from Tuscarora Park. The watershed is north of Mount Carmel. The hike is 8.5 miles long and moderate in difficulty. The hike passes two large reservoirs.Participants will meet at the Roaring Creek parking lot located off Route 42 below Aristes at 10:30 a.m. Call Robin Tracey at 570-467-2506 for more information. Shine only.The second event is also on June 3 with conservation volunteer Dave McSurdy presenting a program in the Locust Lake program shelter (located near the camp store) at 5 p.m. He will explain how American Indians did not have a written language at the time, so they used other types of language to communicate. "Big Owl" McSurdy will talk about marks on rocks known as "petroglyphs" and what they are used for. Each program participant will make their own petroglyph to take home. Shine only.
