While not a cuddly-type lap dog, Phoebe has plenty of great attributes for the right owner. Phoebe needs a forever home.

Phoebe is loving, playful, friendly and oh, so beautiful. Phoebe has a strong, sturdy body that ripples with muscles. She is a Staffordshire terrier and her body looks similar to that of a pit bull, but that is where the similarity ends.Phoebe is two years old spayed female and is absolutely a sweetheart. Anyone who invites Phoebe into their home will be lucky to have her, as long as no cats live there. She seems to have an issue with cats.For Angie Bostick, who has been caring for Phoebe, she has stolen Angie's heart."I think Phoebe is a great dog and deserves a forever home," said Bostick.Phoebe is recuperating from an injury that happened at the Carbon County Animal Shelter when her leg became trapped in her kennel door overnight. Since then she has been getting plenty of tender loving attention from the staff and doctors at Lehighton Animal Hospital while her leg heals."She is so sweet," said Bostick. "I have changed her dressings myself for the last 10 days and put my hand down her throat to give her medication. She has never shown me any aggression, not even a whimper. I've never had to restrain her. She just loves people."Bostick said Phoebe looks strong, an attribute that will make her a great protector and companion for a person living alone."She loves to play," she said.Bostick said that according to her records, her owner was a soldier in California, who was deployed and before he left for overseas, the soldier had found Phoebe a home, but that home had cats and Phoebe and the cats didn't get along. Since that home didn't work out, she moved into another home and was given up, no reason given. Then she recently became a guest at the animal shelter."I'm not sure how Phoebe came to Pennsylvania from California," said Bostick. "But I promised the people at the animal shelter that I would find try to find her a home while she recovers here."Bostick said she has grown so attached to Phoebe that she visits the animal hospital on her days off to change her dressings.Bostick said that Phoebe has shown no aggression for people, but is not sure how Phoebe will interact with other dogs."A one dog household with a person who understands her breed would be the best choice for Phoebe," said Bostick.
