Jamie M. Smith, 17, of Pine Grove, suffered multiple lacerations and abrasions after a car she was driving at 5:27 p.m. Sept. 22 went out of control, struck a guard rail and pole and then rolled over.

The accident happened on Spruce Drive in Pine Grove Township, according to state police at the Schuylkill Haven barracks. They said Smith was transported to the Schuylkill Medical Center East, Pottsville, by the Pine Grove EMS after the accident.Police said she was driving a 2000 Ford Focus southbound on Spruce Drive when it failed to negotiate a left curve. The vehicle proceeded to hit a guard rail and a pole before rotating clockwise 80 degrees and overturning onto its roof.Smith will be cited for failure to drive at a safe speed.
