A Lehigh County man was sentenced to a county prison term on Monday in Carbon County court after previously pleading guilty to leading state police on a high speed chase.
Thomas Lee Erzak, 22, of Whitehall, was sentenced by President Judge Roger N. Nanovic II to serve 90 days to one day less two years on a charge of fleeing and eluding police.Erzak was arrested by state police at Lehighton for an incident on April 11 along SR 248 in the area of Bowmanstown. During the chase speeds reached 125 miles-per-hour. At the time of the incident Erzak was in a probation program in Lehigh County on unrelated charges.Nanovic also imposed a fine of $2,000.Erzak will serve the first 30 days straight time beginning Sept. 9 at 10 a.m. The remaining 60 days will be served on consecutive weekends. He was given credit for 10 days spent in jail on the charge.On a charge of driving under suspension-DUI related, he was sentenced to serve 90 days in jail, a fine of $500 and one year license suspension. The jail terms are concurrent.
