Five first time offenders in the criminal justice system were placed in Carbon County's Accelerated Rehabilitation Disposition (ARD) probation program on Monday by county judges.

If a person successfully completes all conditions of the program their record his wiped clean. However, if they fail to complete the program, or are revoked from it, the Commonwealth retains the right to prosecute them on all pending charges. A person does not admit guilt in entering the program.All were placed for a year, unless otherwise noted.Place by President Judge Roger N. Nanovic were:Jesse J. Chmielewski, 20, of Kunkletown, was placed on a charge of acquiring or obtaining a controlled substance by misrepresntation. He was arrested on May 17 by Mahoning Township police at the Walmart store.He was ordered to pay $350 for the cost of the program, get a drug and alcohol (D&A) evaluation and follow any recommendation for treatment, and render 15 hours of community service.Jamie Lee Gerhard, 25, of Weatherly, was placed on a driving under the influence (DUI) charge. She was arrested on June 12 along N. First St., in Mahaoning Township. Given a test, the result was .22BAC.Nanovic ordered she pay $450 for the program, get a D&A evaluation, license suspended for 60 days, and make restitution for damages caused in a crash to be determined by the adult probation office.Jordon Robert Sullivan, 18, of New Ringgold, was placed on a charge of theft. He was arrested on Aug. 13 at the Walmart in Mahoning Township where he was an employee.He was ordered to pay $350 for the program, render 15 hours of community service, and make restitution to Walmart for $150.Placed by Senior Judge Richard W. Webb were:Carol A. Suenderhaft, 53, of Hatboro, was placed for six months on a charge of possession of marijuana for personal use. She was arrested on June 12 by state police at Pocono along the turnpike in Franklin Township, following a vehicle stop.Webb ordered her to pay $350 for the program and render 15 hours of community service.Paul Vincent Suenderhaft, 56, of Hatboro, was arrested during the same stop as Carol A. Suenderhaft. He was placed for six months and ordered to pay $350 and render 15 hours of community service.Each defendant must also pay court costs, which average close to $1,000, and pay a $50 per month supervision fee while in the program.
