Sal Melo approached Mahoning Township’s board of supervisors last week about putting a solar farm on property to the rear of 148 Ashtown Drive.
He said it would go on 30 acres of property that he owns across from George S. Transportation I.
Melo said it was done with consideration to reduce the impact on the neighborhood.
“I’m asking for your consideration,” Melo said. “I’m here for the best interests of the community.”
Melo added, “It’s an important piece of property.”
The board didn’t take any action on the matter.
Water runoff
Supervisors also heard from resident Georgia Young about water runoff problems on her property in Meadowcrest.
Young said she’s lived at her property for 16 years, and this is the first time she’s had this issue.
“It’s coming down like a river,” Young said. “It’s washing my yard away.”
Supervisor Ronald Reeser told Young he’s surprised she didn’t encounter the issue sooner, adding “there isn’t enough drainage in that development.”
Board Chairman Robert Slaw said the township will send its engineer out to the property.
