Repairs to the Carbon County Administration Building that were caused by a leak several months ago will soon begin.
On Thursday, the board of commissioners ratified a proposal with CMG of Easton to complete the repairs on all three floors of the administration building that was caused by significant water damage from a broken water line on a toilet on the third floor.
The cost of the repairs, which was approved by PCoRP, the county’s insurance company, is $205,067.
This total also includes work being done on nights and weekends to not interfere with county business.
Commissioner Rocky Ahner said that the work will probably be completed by floors to allow for departments to be moved as work takes place, but could not provide a full timeline since there are several factors that will be worked out as the project progresses.
The longest time will be the carpeting, which is expected to take approximately six weeks to come in once ordered.
In regards to the 44 Susquehanna St., building leak, which happened days after the administration building leak, the county said that it will not require as much work, but a total figure has not bee announced.
Ahner said that the carpeting does not need to be replaced in that building since it was new, and will be under a provision that states if there is any problem within a certain amount of time, then it would be covered to be replaced.
