Jim Thorpe District Justice Edward Lewis has been honored by Gov. Mark Schweiker by being appointed to the recently-formed Motor Carrier Safety Advisory Committee.

Lewis was selected from all the district justices in the state to serve on the committee, which is made up of 20 members, with only one representing district justices.

The legislature created the committee because the motor carrier industry is a vital part of the economic health of the state by providing needed goods and services, as well as job opportunities for many state residents.
