Power lines down in Mahoning

Fallen power lines are causing havoc in Mahoning Township as firefighters are dealing with brush fires, downed power lines, power outages, inoperable traffic lights and more.

The first incident occurred along Route 443 east of Seneca Road when power lines fell in a wooded area parallel and to the north of the roadway, causing a brush fire.

This event caused a power outage knocking out traffic lights and forcing businesses to close.

PPL said more than 1,300 customers are without power.

Several fire units were dispatched to the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Carbon to clear smoke from the facility after having an issue.
