The Christian Action Council, Palmerton Area Churches will be sponsoring the annual CROPWalk event that is taking place this weekend.
"CACPAC has sponsored the Palmerton CROPWalk for roughly 40 years," Pastor William Hayes said. "CROPWalk is used to raise money for the Church World Service's fight against hunger worldwide, particularly after disasters."CROPWalk also focuses its charitable efforts on the local community, where participants can see the positive impact in their own backyards."One-fourth of the money raised is returned to CACPAC for their use in the Palmerton Food Pantry. With cuts in state funding of food pantries, money raised by CROPWalk is a help in getting food to those who need their monthly supplies," Hayes said. The walk will take place on Sunday at 1:30 p.m., beginning at St. John's Lutheran Church in Towamensing, and concluding at First UCC on Delaware Ave.
