Tamaqua man sentenced to 10 years for sexual assault

A Tamaqua man will spend up to 10 years in prison followed by 10 years on probation for sexually assaulting two children between Dec. 17, 2021, and Aug. 11, 2022.

Robert Lloyd Christman, 33, Tamaqua, also must register as a sex offender under Megan’s Law for the rest of his life.

Christman was charged by borough police with four counts of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse of a person less than 16 years old; aggravated indecent assault of a person less than 16; two counts of corruption of minors when he was over age 18; indecent exposure; indecent assault of a person less than 13 years old; indecent exposure; and four counts of indecent assault of a person less 16 years old on Dec. 17, 2021.

The victims, a boy and a girl, were 15 and 12, respectively.

Christman on April 21 pleaded guilty to aggravated indecent assault; corruption of minors; a second count of corruption of minors; indecent assault; and indecent exposure.

On the aggravated indecent assault charge, Schuylkill County Judge Christina E. Hale sentenced him to three to six years in state prison, with credit for 60 days served; to pay court costs; pay a $50 monthly supervision fee; and to submit a DNA sample and pay the $250 fee.

On the first charge of corruption of minors, she sentenced him to an additional one to two years in prison; on the second charge, Hale gave him the same sentence.

On the indecent assault charge, Judge Hale sentenced Christman to five years on probation after he’s served his prison time.

On the indecent exposure charge, she sentenced him to an additional five years on probation.
