St. John Neumann Regional School at Palmerton is small but mighty.
Recently, the school’s new Principal Christopher Heery said that the school is working on increasing enrollment, which stands at 76.
But he noted that rumors had been surfacing that the diocese was planning to close the school, however, that is not the case.
“We’re the only Catholic school left in Carbon County and we’re financially doing well,” Heery said. “We just need to get a few more students to keep us going in the right direction.”
Heery said that the school has several things going on right now.
Recently, the seventh and eighth grade students participated in a living wax museum exhibit, which showcased various people from history.
“It was a really exciting thing that we do each year,” Heery said, noting that the students stood in the gymnasium as if they were wax figures, portraying a variety of historical individuals.
They are also participating in the Diocese of Allentown’s “Make a Joyful Noise” competition, currently underway, and will be holding a field day, and the May crowning of Mary ceremony.
There is also Spirit Week coming up, as well as a Mother’s Day student art exhibit.
