Bids for Mahoning Township’s impending headquarters on Route 443 have come in under its anticipated price tag.
Township secretary Natalie Haggerty announced at Wednesday’s board of supervisors meeting that the four apparent low bids came in at $915,201.
Haggerty noted that came in under the $1.2 million mark; however, she added it doesn’t include any alternates.
Supervisor Ronald Reeser said he would like to have a meeting with architect Jeffrey Biehn of Watkins Architect, before the board would take any action.
The board could award bids at its meeting at 6 p.m. June 14.
Last month, supervisors on a 4-0 vote ratified an advertisement to receive bids for the building renovation at the former Diaz building at 2175 Blakeslee Blvd., Drive West. Supervisor Brian Reeser was absent.
That came after supervisors on a 4-0 vote in March agreed to bid out the former Diaz building.
In July, supervisors and township police Chief Audie Mertz met at the site, west of Normal Square, with Biehn.
The purpose of that meeting was to again review the renovation project for the building that will eventually house the township’s offices and police department.
Biehn heard feedback from supervisors, including board Chairman Robert Slaw, who said he was on board as long as the price tag is under $1 million.
The former medical office on Route 443, just west of Normal Square, was purchased in July 2021 at a cost of $375,000.
The two-story building and 14 acres of land was assessed at $595,000.
Once renovation work is completed, the Mahoning Township Police will use the lower level, and the township offices will be located on the second floor.
