Lehighton has an ordinance for horse-drawn carriages on the books.
Borough council on a 6-0 vote last week approved the ordinance, provided that a fee structure be added to it. Councilman Darryl Arner was absent.
Last month, council unanimously agreed to advertise the ordinance.
Councilwoman Autumn Abelovsky said at that time she had several questions about the ordinance, which were addressed by borough solicitor Jim Nanovic.
Originally, Abelovsky brought the matter up for discussion at council’s March meeting, at which time Public Works Superintendent Kris Kunkle said that there have been issues with people not cleaning up the horse waste.
