Bowmanstown Borough Council business:
• The borough received $2,000 toward playground mulch, $1,000 came from the Krill Youth Foundation, and the other $1,000 from the Palmerton Pacemakers Association. The balance will be paid for by the borough.
• Retroactive hiring of Thomas Kern as a public works employee, at a starting wage of $18 an hour.
• Will start the lien process on 650 Ore St. for sewer tapping fee.
• Approved a six-month extension for 601 Fireline Road on the garbage billing while they are rebuilding.
• Borough engineer Jessica Rehrig prepared the 2023 Community Development Block Grant application for Phase 1 of Lincoln Avenue (600 feet from Lehigh Street).
• Rehrig met with the streets committee to review road maintenance items for 2023 and provided cost information on tar and chip versus microsurfacing.
• An electronics recycling event is from 3-6 p.m. June 8.
