Weissport’s Officer in Charge, Matthew Williams, was promoted to chief of police at the Weissport Borough Council meeting on Monday.

Williams was rehired March 21 at a rate of $17.50 per hour. After a 30-day probationary period, he was to be promoted to chief at a rate of $18.50 per hour.

“His probationary period ended the 21st of last month,” Council member James Osbourn advised council.

“I would like to make a motion to move him back to Chief with the pay raise, effective April 21.”

Weissport Mayor Paulette Watson administered the oath of office.
