Gesiskie running for Pl. Valley school board
John Gesiskie, a long time Pleasant Valley resident of over 35 years is asking for voters’ support in the upcoming primary election for school district director.
He said he will bring 35 years of educational experiences to help focus and advocate for the best interest of all students at Pleasant Valley.
He said the main platform of his service will be to provide the best opportunities for Pleasant Valley students of all ages, focusing on utilizing resources that will be beneficial in this ever changing society.
He said his reasons for running are:
• The need for administrator accountability to follow policies or contracts.
• Stop adding more unnecessary administrative support when our students’ need for
support is ignored or minimized.
• Repel measures that force a “one size fits all” approach.
• Remind administrators who have only been here for a short time to stop making
decisions without considering past circumstances.
The goals he would like to set:
• Make sure all board members strive to attain all the facts to make informed decisions.
• Remind administrators of the need to consistently include teachers and all other support personnel in decision making at all levels of our schools since they are the ones who over the years worked directly with our students and know their needs.
• As Pleasant Valley continues to move forward, it should be done with researching the possible effects it may have on the students in which the change involves.
• Fiscal responsibility: Changes need to be practical, reasonable and affordable for our community members when considering the capital improvement projects which include renovations, demolitions as well as new structures.
• Include parent partnership to meet student needs.
• Improve our learning environment.
• Emphasize safety for all.
