A local company that specializes in servicing fire equipment is helping Carbon County make sure firefighters and other first responders are safe when doing active burns in the new training facility in Nesquehoning.
On Thursday, Commissioners’ Chairman Wayne Nothstein said that Bulldog Fire Apparatus, which opened a branch in Nesquehoning last year in a portion of the former KME building, donated two burn cribs, valued at $2,600, to the new Emergency Operations Training Center. The site is owned by One Industrial Holdings.
A burn crib is a place to place pallets and other materials for a practice burn.
Ric Reaman, Chief Financial Officer for Bulldog and one of the owners of One Industrial Holdings, said that the two entities chose to donate these two burn cribs because it will help the volunteers.
“We are just really happy to be able to help as part of our community and support our first responders,” Reaman said. “The training center is a great addition to the resources our area has to offer to keep our first responders prepare and safe as they protect our communities.”
Nothstein said that the county firemen’s association plans to purchase two additional burn cribs from the company for the four-story burn building in the future.
